At New Life Christian Church we often speak about The Three Vital Involvements. This is a way of referring to the activities which people are requested to participate in as members of the church. These three activities are: 1) Weekend Worship, 2) Small Group Connection, 3) Serving God in Ministry. We believe the Three Vital Involvements describe the New Testament's understanding of church membership.
In addition, we call them vital since we believe that they are critical to a Christian's growth in the Lord. 2 Peter 3:18 makes it clear that we are to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" NIV. That can't happen if we aren't vitally connected to the body of Christ locally in these three ways.
1. Weekend Worship The Bible teaches that believers should regularly gather together for worship, teaching, and ministry. Attending a worship service on the weekends should be a priority to which every church member is committed.
2. Small Group Connection The early church met in both large and small gatherings. New Life follows that pattern with the expectation that every member joins a small group. The small group provides the opportunity to develop relationships and true Biblical community that cannot be fully experienced in the large Sunday services.
3. Serving God in Ministry The Bible teaches that every believer in Jesus Christ is called to serve the body of Christ in an ongoing manner. You can determine God's gifts, passion, talents, personality, and experiences through our SHAPE Class. The goal is to match each person to the area of ministry where they can be most effective.
