Small Groups

Why are Small Groups important to us?

Almost all of us want our church to be “small”, and what we mean is… we want to know people. We want friendship and community. We don’t want to be a number and we don’t want to get lost in the crowd.

Did you know that the original church (planted by Jesus, Himself) met regularly as a large group in the temple, and they also met in small groups in homes? At New Life, we don’t think you can just attend the larger Sunday morning service and be a New Testament Christian.

The Apostle Paul said it this way: “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Gal. 6:2)” How can we carry each other’s burdens in a crowd? The reality is that we can’t. So we create smaller circles of friendship where we can get to know each other, open the Bible together, and pray for each other. This is church.

What is a small group?

About 10-15 people get together once per week for about two hours in a home and share their spiritual lives. Our Bible discussions always follow our weekly sermon topic, so you always know what’s coming. There’s usually some form of good food present. And the life-sharing will be voluntary, at your own pace.

How do I get into a group?

We have around 40-50 small groups operating, depending on the time of year. Most of them are mixed gender and stage-of-life, but we do have a few special focus groups.
