Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

1 Peter 2:13-14  NIV

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority.  They keep watch over you as men who must give an account.  Obey them so that their work will be a joy…
                                                                                                                        Hebrews 13:17  NIV

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  “Honor your father and mother”—“that it may go well with you...”

                                                                                                                      Ephesians 6:1-3  NIV

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God
      something to be grasped,
      but made Himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
      being made in human likeness.

Philippians 2:5-7  NIV

When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.  There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die.  The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to Him, asking Him to come and heal his servant.

                                                                                                                              Luke 7:1-3  NIV

When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”   So Jesus went with them.

He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.”

     Luke 7:4-6  NIV

“That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You.  But say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me.  I tell this one, ‘Go,’and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes.  I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”                                                                                                   Luke 7:7-8  NIV

When Jesus heard this, He was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following Him, He said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”  Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

    Luke 7:9-10  NIV

“This is the one I esteem:  he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at My word.”

      Isaiah 66:2  NIV

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud but gives
      grace to the humble.”
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.

   1 Peter 5:5-6  NIV
